GEARING UP FOR ANOTHER SUMMER FUN PARTY!!!!

This years theme will be a day in the jungle. Complete with a river of alligators, monkeys in the trees, the piranha pool, safari hunt and much more. Marilyn and I will be hosting this event during the month of July...should allow enough time for painting of murals, creating games, purchasing supplies and preparing for a day of fun!!!

I will post pictures as the backdrops are created and ideas are formed...any suggestions are welcome.

Tori you are in my heart and soul...you will never be forgotten.

ONLY A MEMORY AWAY...

It's been so long where could I be?
Has it been so long that you're forgetting me?
Do you remember my smile, my laugh and my giggle?
Do you remember my walk, my dance and my wiggle?
Do you remember my baby steps, spit-ups and drool?
Do you remember my first day of going to school?
Do you remember when I said "I love you"?
Do you remember that you said it too?
Not one of these things has changed in your mind
So look deep in your heart and you will find
I'm with you in memories so share them each day
And listen to God when you pray
He'll tell you I'm flying with angels by night
That I am the sunbeams giving you light
He'll tell you he loves me and please don't cry
Because I am God's angel up here in the sky
I am at peace, happy and free as a dove
The only thing missing is my family to love.

MOST RECENT...VICTORIA (TORI) STAFFORD CANADA'S ANGEL ABDUCTION AND MURDER

On April 8, 2009 Tori Stafford left her school in Woodstock and has not bee seen since. She was a bright blue eyed girl with blond hair typical of any eight year old girl. Tori loved to shop, had a spring to her step, hosted tea parties, loved to run bare foot, enjoyed drawing and doodling to fill every inch of a page.

Her abduction brought together more than 129000 people on one facebook group alone, "Help Find Victoria Stafford". Vigils, balloon launches, hanging of posters anything people could do to make the public aware of her disappearance was done willingly by family, friends and complete strangers. Tori had touched the hearts of a nation and beyond. She became known as Canada's Angel.

On May 20 two persons were arrested and charged with the murder of this beautiful little girl. People were horrified by the news. We all just wanted to bring Tori home. Police continue searching for Tori's remains but to date have not come up with any key evidence that has been made public.

Yesterday, June 6, 2009 a memorial service was held for Victoria at the Calvary Church in Woodstock. Almost 1000 people attended and others watched live or attended a memorial tribute on facebook.

We all did our best to bring this little girl home...we have not failed we just are not done yet.

RIP Tori ....we WILL bring you home.

WOW It's been along time!!!!!

well, finally I have some time to bring my blog up to date. I would like to start posting every week or two....so keep your eyes peeled for some new daycare ideas...what is happening in Bruce County and things of interest.

Happy Thanksgiving...what a busy time for everyone...trying not to miss the last few days of summer-like weather, putting away lawn and garden ornaments, cutting the grass one more time, cleaning the chimney, pulling out the shovels and toboggans so they are ready to go, stocking the shelves for the winter....

On Monday this week I hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for the kids from my daycare and Marilyn's too. They enjoyed turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, and stuffing with the less traditional "timbits" for dessert. Our crafts this week were based on the turkey...
one was a turkey cut from bristol board, the tail and body were decorated with felt squares, googly eyes, a coloured beak and feathers for the wings made a handsome table center-piece when a stand was added. Another craft used hand prints for the tail each of the four prints a different colour, then a brown print of one foot upside down for the body, it was decorated with googly eyes, a beak, waddle and feet cut from fun foam.

It was a beautiful fall day for a trip to Smith's Apple Orchard. Marilyn, her daycare kids and I with mine spent a couple of hours this morning climbing on circles of hay bales, playing twister the orchard way, listening to a story about visiting the apple farm, walking through the giant sunflowers, viewing huge gourds, measuring up against Smith's "How Tall this Fall?" wooden display board, choosing just the right apple to go home with, counting pumpkins, eating "slinky" apples, watching the bakers make delicious pies and turnovers, playing "Twister" the orchard way and singing some apple and harvest songs.

"Way up high in the apple tree
Two red apples smiled at me
I shook that tree as hard as I could
Down came the apples
Mmmmmm VERY GOOD!"

"I am an apple shiny you can see
I used to grown in an apple tree
Now I'm delicious as can be
Won't you put me in your tummy"

"I am a pumpkin big and round
Once upon a time
I grew on the ground
I have two eyes
A mouth
And nose
What are they for do you suppose?
With a candle burning oh so bright
I'll be a Jack O Lantern on Halloween Night!"

The kids all went home with a delicious apple of their choosing, some took home fresh baked turnovers and EVERYONE took home some wonderful memories!!!
